• Pterocarpus marsupium, also known as Vijayasar or the Indian Kino Tree, is a medium to large, deciduous tree that can grow up to 30 m tall. It is native to India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, where it occurs in parts of the Western Ghats in the Karnataka-Kerala region and also in the forests of Central India. It is also known by the names Malabar Kino, Benga, Bijiayasal (in western Nepal), Piasal (Oriya), Venkai, and many others

• Common Name: Pterocarpus marsupium-Karavenga, Venna, Venga, Bijasal, Bastard teak, East Indian Kino, Gammalu, Indian kino tree, Kino, Malabar kino tree-plant
• General : Identified by imparipinnate (5-7 leaflets), coriaceous, dark green, shining leaves and exudation of red juice from the bark on incisions. It grows better on well-drained alluvial and sandy loam to loamy xoils. Pretreatment : Soaking the seeds for 72 hours in cold water or in cowdung slurry for 48 hours. Nursery Technique : Seed can be put in bigger polybags (because of fast development of root) . Pretreated seeds directly put it into polybags . Germination noticed within 10-15 days .
